Principal and founding member of Weiss-Kunz & Oliver, LLC, Maxine represents clients in Elmhurst, Park Ridge and Chicago, Illinois, in matters of traditional litigation, adoptions, and collaborative divorce. This includes: drafting premarital agreements (and postnuptial agreements), appeals prosecution and defense, and attorney-assisted mediation. Maxine recently became a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (IL Chapter).
In 2023, Maxine became a Fellow of the prestigious AAML (American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers), and she is also closely affiliated with AFCC (Association of Family and Conciliation Courts) since 2019. Maxine has an Avvo “Superb” rating and was named in “Top 40 Under 40” by the American Institute of Legal Advocates. The National Academy of Family Law Attorneys named her in “Top 10 Under 40” in Family Law in 2015 and gave her the “10 Best Client Satisfaction Award” in 2016. Expertise also named her one of the “Best Arbitrators & Mediators in Chicago” in 2016.
At Indiana University Bloomington, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in communication and psychology with a minor in business before moving on to law school. Maxine attended the Chicago-Kent College of Law, where she earned a certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution & Trial Advocacy and her Juris Doctor. In 2015, she also finished the National Institute for Trial Advocacy’s Family Law Trial Advocacy Program.
Admitted to practice in the State of Illinois, Ms. Weiss Kunz is also admitted before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. She is a member of various Bar Associations, a certified Mediator, and a Fellow of the Collaborative Law Institute of Illinois. Ms. Weiss Kunz is also an alumni ambassador for her alma mater, the Chicago-Kent College of Law.
