Based in Chicago, he focuses his practice on representing plaintiffs throughout the region in personal injury and wrongful death litigation. Mr. Demetrio is admitted to practice in Illinois, and he is also admitted to practice before several federal trial and appellate courts, including the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois (regular and trial bars), the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the 4th, 7th and 8th Circuits, and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Mr. Demetrio has obtained millions of dollars in negotiated settlements and jury awards for people who have incurred economic and noneconomic losses due to the negligence of other parties. His cases have arisen out of incidents involving truck and other motor vehicle accidents, pedestrian knockdowns, train derailments, defective products, premises liability and high-profile airplane crashes, including American Airlines Flight #191, USAir Flight #427 and American Eagle Flight#3379. In the latter multidistrict federal case, he was appointed by the court to be lead counsel for the plaintiffs' steering committee. These and other successful results have led to a great deal of recognition from his fellow professionals, including an AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell. In addition, Mr. Demetrio has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America for more than 10 consecutive years.

Certified as an arbitrator by the American Arbitration Association, Mr. Demetrio is a fellow in The Society of Trial Lawyers, and he has been a member of several other professional organizations, including the Lake County Bar Association and the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. He has taught courses in evidence as an adjunct professor at Chicago-Kent College of Law, his law school alma mater.
