Richard K. Johnson

Richard K. Johnson is the managing partner of Katz Friedman, Eagle, Eisenstein, Johnson & Bareck Located in Chicago, Illinois, he provides representation to workers throughout the state who have been injured on the job or who may be entitled to social security disability.  Many of his clients are members of unions such as the United Auto Workers, Service Employees International Union Local 73, the Teamsters, the Illinois Education Association and the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA.

Mr. Johnson has written articles on workers' compensation topics that have been published by the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, the Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association, and the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education. Through his work with the Amicus Curiae Committee of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, he has been involved in the preparation of numerous "friend of the court" briefs on behalf of injured workers whom he has not actively represented. Mr. Johnson's activities and successes have not gone unnoticed by his fellow attorneys. He is AV Preeminent* peer-review rated through Martindale-Hubbell and has a 10.0 "Superb" peer-review rating through Avvo. In addition, Mr. Johnson has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America.   Inducted into the College of Workers' Compensation Lawyers in 2010, he is currently on the Board of Governors.

As an undergraduate, Mr. Johnson attended Northwestern University and received a Bachelor of Science in 1977. He pursued his legal education at DePaul University College of Law and was awarded his Juris Doctor degree in 1982. Admitted to practice before all Illinois state courts, he has been able to obtain numerous favorable results on behalf of his clients after appearing on their behalf before the Illinois Appellate Court, Workers' Compensation Division, as well as before the Supreme Court of Illinois. Mr. Johnson is a past vice-chairman of the Workers' Compensation Committee of the American Bar Association.
