Attorney Robert J. Bingle is a partner with Corboy & Demetrio in Chicago, Illinois. A highly accomplished and award-winning trial attorney with more than 26 years of legal experience, Mr. Bingle has devoted his entire practice to serious personal injury and wrongful death cases, and throughout the course of his career, he has helped recover tens of millions of dollars in total compensation for his clients, including many multimillion-dollar verdicts and settlements.

During his extensive career, Mr. Bingle has served as either lead or co-counsel on dozens of mass torts involving railroad accidents, gas explosions, fires and other avoidable disasters. Among his most notable successes includes a settlement of $22.5 million for the family of a train derailment victim as well as a settlement of more than $25 million for a case involving a train and school bus collision.

Moreover, Mr. Bingle has secured some of the largest verdicts ever awarded in Illinois, including a $6.6 million verdict on behalf of a family injured in a car accident and a $6.8 million verdict for an amputee victim.

A 1973 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Mr. Bingle earned his master's degree from The University of Chicago in 1975 before attending Loyola University School of Law, where he obtained his Juris Doctor in 1981. Along with practicing before all Illinois state courts, he is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern District of Illinois and the District of Colorado as well as before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit.

A consummate professional and recognized leader in his field, Mr. Bingle is a member of numerous local, state and national bar associations. He served as past president of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, where he continues to serve on the board of managers. For more than 10 years, he served on the Illinois Supreme Court Committee on Jury Instructions in Civil Cases as well as on many other committees and panels throughout his legal community.

Verdicts/Settlements:

  • A $6.8 million verdict in one railroad case Bob tried was the highest amount ever awarded in Illinois to an individual who suffered the loss of his leg. He was lead plaintiffs' counsel for the litigation stemming from the collision of a train and school bus in Fox River Grove, a Chicago suburb, which settled in excess of $25 million and was one of the lead attorneys in a $10 million settlement stemming from a collision at a Union Pacific rail yard that resulted in the death of the three men. He was the lead trial attorney and directed the mass litigation stemming from the Quantum Chemical explosion which settled for more than $20 million, and was co-counsel on a workplace injury case where the employee was awarded $48 million. He settled the case of a young woman who was killed by a piece of falling glass from Chicago's CNA Tower for $18 million.
