Russell Knight

As the founder of the Law Office of Russell D. Knight, based in Chicago, Illinois and Naples, Florida, Russell Knight provides legal representation in a broad range of family law matters. His practice focuses on divorce, child custody, child support, alimony, and parenting time, as well as more complex issues such as division of marital assets, parental alienation. He also assists clients with divorce preparation, offering guidance at every stage of the process.

Admitted to practice in Illinois in 2006 and in Florida in 2018, Mr. Knight serves clients with a comprehensive understanding of family law across jurisdictions. He is fluent in English, French and Spanish, enabling him to communicate effectively with a diverse clientele. Mr. Knight has been a member of the Illinois State Bar Association since 2009 and the Collier County, Florida bar association since 2018 maintaining active involvement in the legal community while staying informed on developments in family law.

Russell Knight has published 750+ law review-style articles on his website about Illinois family law replete with quotations and explanations of statutes, rules and case law. Russell Knight reads every appellate decision every week to update those articles with the current state of family law in Illinois. Russell Knight is currently building a similar library for Florida family law. 

Russell Knight has been published numerous times by the Illinois State Bar Association.

Russell Knight has completed National Institute for Trial Advocacy’s 2-day deposition course, the National Family Law Trial Institute‘s 8-day Kolodny Trial Skills Course and the 3-day advanced cross-examination program.

Russell Knight is a faculty member for the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education’s Trial Training for Family Lawyers

Russell Knight is the author of the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education (IICLE), Family Law: Dissolutions of Marriage Court Proceedings 2024 Edition, Chapter 3 — Obtaining Orders of Protection.

Mr. Knight earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign College of Law in 2006. Prior to that, he completed a Bachelor of Science in Business Computer systems at Bradley University in 2000.
