Prior to becoming an attorney, Ms. McNulty led a successful career with the Chicago Police Department's administration, where she served as director of administration in the Bureau of Operational Services as well as chief of staff to the first deputy superintendent. In these roles, she assisted in the development and implementation of many of the department's administrative policies and projects, and she deftly handled numerous major incidents involving high-ranking member of the force.
Her experience with gathering facts and handling the major administrative functions of the department has served her well as a personal injury attorney. In one of her first cases as an attorney, she represented multiple plaintiffs with their personal injury and wrongful death claims following a fatal fire at the Cook County Administration Building in 2003. She has also handled numerous claims following rollover accidents involving sports utility vehicles as well as many claims resulting from sexual abuse and harassment, employer retaliation, and other employment-related grievances.
Among her other notable successes, Ms. McNulty helped secure a verdict of $12 million for the victims of a small plane crash, and she has recovered millions more in settlements and verdicts in a wide range of personal injury matters. Honored for her professionalism and service, she has earned consistent recognition from Best Lawyers along with perennial Leading Lawyer designations from Law Bulletin magazine. She has also received designation as a Top 40 Under 40 and Women in Law honors from Chicago Daily Law Bulletin and Chicago Lawyer Magazine.
A 1993 cum laude graduate of DePaul University, Ms. McNulty earned her Master of Science in management of public services from the university in 1997. She obtained her Juris Doctor from DePaul University College of Law in 2004, and she is a 2008 graduate of the Trial Advocacy Institute at the University of Virginia. She also completed the intensive Summer Institute in Negotiation at Northwestern University in 2006.
Ms. McNulty is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the Northern District of Indiana, the Western District of Missouri and the Western District of Michigan as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit.
She currently serves as investigator for the Chicago Bar Association's judicial evaluation committee, and she once served as co-chair of the organization's professional ethics committee. She also serves on the Supreme Court Committee on the Rules of Evidence, and she is an active member of several local, state and national legal organizations.
