Shekar Jayaraman

Shekar Jayaraman possesses a diverse background encompassing both public and private sector experiences. He operates Jayaraman Law, a legal practice based in Chicago, Illinois, catering to clients in both Chicago and the Chicagoland metro area. His practice areas include:

After getting his law degree from the University of South Dakota, Mr. Jayaraman furthered his legal education by earning an LL.M. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, majoring in business and corporate governance. Additionally, he held a pivotal role as a regional liaison under the Ohio Secretary of State, overseeing business services and elections.

Attorney Jayaraman’s legal journey includes his externship for a United States Magistrate and being a part of the renowned Janet D. Steiger Fellowship Project, where he concentrated on matters related to consumer protection. He also exhibited leadership qualities by serving as the president of his law school’s Student Bar Association and achieving first place in the institution’s annual Alternative Dispute Resolution competition.

In terms of admissions, Mr. Jayaraman is admitted to practice in Illinois and holds licenses for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana. Beyond his professional work, Mr. Jayaraman actively engages with his legal community, participating in organizations such as the South Asian Bar Association of Chicago (where he serves as the Chicago board treasurer), the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association, Business Network International – Chicago Givers Gain Network, and Chicago Volunteer Legal Services. He also contributes his time to Minority Legal Education Resources as a tutor group leader and serves as an associate board member for Leading India's Future Today (LIFT Foundation).

Mr. Jayaraman is proficient in both English and Tamil, with the latter being at a conversational level, adding to his ability to connect with a diverse range of clients.
