Suzanne E. Bish, a partner at Stowell & Friedman, Ltd., located in Chicago, Illinois, is a well-known advocate for her clients throughout the area who have suffered from workplace discrimination and other civil rights violations. Her litigation practice, involving both individual and class action plaintiffs, covers discrimination based on sex, race, age, pregnancy and national origin. Ms. Bish has also handled matters arising out of the Fair Labor Standards Act and other federal legislation designed to protect the rights of employees. As class counsel in a major federal lawsuit involving Merrill Lynch, Ms. Bish successfully negotiated a $160 million settlement for the class of plaintiffs who had suffered from racial discrimination while working as brokers at that company.

After receiving a bachelor's degree from The Ohio State University, Ms. Bish pursued her legal education at The Ohio State University Michael E. Moritz College of Law and was awarded her Juris Doctor cum laude. While in law school, she was an editor of the Ohio State Law Journal. After graduation, Ms. Bish served a clerkship with a judge in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois before entering private practice. Admitted to practice in Illinois, she is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the 2nd and 9th Circuits.

A staunch believer in protecting the civil rights of all people, Ms. Bish has volunteered with several organizations working toward fair housing, educational opportunities and civil rights.
