Born and raised in Bethesda, Maryland, Mr. Hoerman received his undergraduate degree in political science in 1991 from DePauw University, where he was the captain of the baseball team. He earned his Juris Doctor with honors from the Chicago-Kent College of Law in 1995. He graduated with dean's list honors and received an academic achievement scholarship.

Admitted to practice before state and several federal district courts in Illinois and California, Mr. Hoerman holds membership in the American Association for Justice, the American Bar Association, the Madison County Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, among others. He is also a member of the board of managers of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and executive board of the Mass Tort Trial Lawyers Association.

A leader in his field, Mr. Hoerman has written a few articles and given talks at a number of seminars and conferences on topics connected to his work. He has been honored among the Top 100 Trial Lawyers by The National Trial Lawyers and the Top 25 Notable Alumni of the Chicago-Kent School of Law.

Additionally, Chief Judge David R. Herndon of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois named him co-lead counsel in national litigation regarding the drug Pradaxa. Similarly, Judge Anthony J. Battaglia named him to the same position in a Southern California federal court for a case involving several nationally released diabetes drugs.
