Zane D. Smith

The founding partner of Zane D. Smith & Associates, Ltd., attorney Zane D. Smith assists the residents of Chicagoland, Illinois, with their personal injury matters. While he is proficient in dealing with catastrophic personal injury cases, he also has extensive experience handling cases involving medical malpractice, business litigation, class actions, mass torts, environmental litigation and product liability. Admitted to practice law in Illinois since 1983, he has had substantial trial experience at the state and federal levels.

Mr. Smith completed his undergraduate studies at Southern Illinois University, graduating with a B.A. degree with a major in psychology and a minor in pre-law. He proceeded to pursue his interest in the legal field at the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law, earning his Juris Doctor in 1983. While at law school, he gained admission to the esteemed Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, International, and was the elected class representative. He is passionate about safeguarding his clients’ interests, ensuring to get them the compensation they deserve for the injuries they have had to sustain through no fault of their own.

An active member of the Illinois legal sphere, Mr. Smith is affiliated with the Illinois State Bar Association, the Federal Trial Bar for the Northern District of Illinois and the Federal Bar Association for the State of Indiana, Hammond. Furthermore, he maintains memberships with The Chicago Bar Association and the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and has held leadership positions within the former organization (chairman and vice chair of the Tort Litigation Committee). A recipient of the Distinguished Service Award by Chicago Volunteer Legal Services, his commitment and the impact he has made to the field is well-recognized, as evidenced by his election into the board of commissioners of Winnetka Park District.

Mr. Smith is passionate about giving back to the community and volunteers with the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services and the Boy Scouts of America. He also dedicates time to delivering speeches and classes organized by The Chicago Bar Association’s Tort Litigation Committee.
