Mr. Heller graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 1975 with a Bachelor of Arts in Humanistic Studies and was vice president of his class. He then attended DePaul University College of Law, where he obtained his Juris Doctor in 1978. The Illinois State Bar Association admitted him to practice that same year, and he is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims.
Drawing upon his extensive legal knowledge, Mr. Heller has conducted numerous lectures and seminars across his region on a variety of legal topics. He is also an active member of several local, state and national legal organizations, and he has served on various committees for The Chicago Bar Association, including a year as Chair of the Tort Litigation Committee. Additionally, he has served as arbitrator with the Cook County Mandatory Arbitration Program and the American Arbitration Association.

Mr. Heller has taught at Roosevelt University since 1992.  He currently teaches in both the Paralegal Studies Program and the Conflict and Mediation Masters Program.
Highly active in his local community as well, Mr. Heller has served as president, vice president and as a board member of Northbrook School District No. 27, a Village Trustee for the Village of Northbrook as well as president and a board member of the Charlemagne Homeowners Association. He has also served as Cub Master for his local Cub Scouts as well as a little league and softball coach.
