    Attorney James L. Craney is the founder and managing partner of Craney Law Group LLC in Edwardsville, Illinois.     Over the course of his career, Mr. Craney has successfully handled dozens of trial cases to verdict. He also routinely represents employers before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Illinois Department of Human Rights, where he advocates on behalf of employers dealing with serious administrative actions. He has also defended the rights and interests of insurance providers dealing with tortious and liability claims, obtaining numerous summary judgments on their behalf, and he has successfully handled a high volume of asbestos and toxic tort cases across his region.

    Along with providing invaluable trial support in state and federals courts, Mr. Craney is highly versed in alternative dispute resolution techniques. He has also served as a panel arbitrator with Madison County's mandatory civil arbitration system. Whether at trial or during arbitration, Mr. Craney aggressively advocates on behalf of his clients to help them achieve the favorable outcomes they expect, and he has earned many awards and honors from his peers for his impeccable professionalism and outstanding legal abilities.

    Among his most notable accolades, Mr. Craney received an Illinois Leading Lawyers designation in 2014 and 2015 for product liability defense and toxic torts. He has also received designation from his peers as being among the top attorneys in his region for his practice areas.

    A 1991 graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Mr. Craney earned his master's degree from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, in 1995 and his Master of Public Health from the University of Texas School of Public Health in 1998.

    He obtained his Juris Doctor from St. Louis University School of Law in 2002, and he is licensed to practice in Illinois and Missouri. He is admitted to practice before all U.S. District Courts in Illinois, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Missouri, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Illinois, and the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado.

    A leader in his field, Mr. Craney is an active member of the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel, the Claims & Litigation Management Alliance, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Madison County Bar Association and the St. Clair County Bar Association. He has also published numerous articles and conducted many lectures and continuing legal education seminars across his region on a variety of topics.
