Jennifer A. Shaw graduated from law school at Ole Miss in 1996. After spending four years working at Land of Lincoln Legal Assistance Foundation, she entered private practice. In 2003, she opened her own firm in Edwardsville, Illinois. Jennifer is focused on all areas of domestic relations litigation with special emphasis on unmarried couples, particularly members of the LGBT community. An active member of the ISBA, she has been appointed to numerous committees and has chaired three of them. Currently, serving as the CLE Coordinator for the Standing Committee on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity, she is also a member of the Board of the Illinois Bar Foundation and a past member of the Family Law Section Counsel.  She has served on the Board of Directors for the Illinois Equal Justice Foundation and was elected as its secretary in June, 2015.  She was selected to receive the Madison County Pro Bono Award in 2015 and received an Illinois State Bar Association Board of Governor's Award for her work with the new Illinois Marriage and Dissolution of Marriage Act.

  • In re the Marriage of Agee, 2013 IL App (5th) 130320-U.  A cross-appeal of all issues was taken by the Respondnet.  The Court's failure to address interim attorney's fees was reversed and remanded.  The Court's failure to award attorney's fees at the close of the case was reversed and remanded.  The award of custody was affirmed.  The imputation of income for purposes of child support was affirmed, 2013
  • In re Marriage of Cheatham, 2014 IL App (5th) 130547-U.  The trial court properly denied the Husband's petition for relief from judgement pursuant to Section 1401 of the Code of Civil Procedure, 2014
