- Segregation in the Chicago Metropolitan Area – Some Immediate Measures to Reverse this Impediment to Fair Housing (2013) - This report outlines some steps that can be taken to better achieve the goals of fairhousing in the Chicago metropolitan area. Some of them are easy; others may meet with moreresistance, but the Center believes that all would further the cause of fair housing. Therecommendations delineate two types of reforms – legislative and regulatory – and proposeeducation and outreach initiatives. These proposals will be most effective if there is cooperationbetween federal, state, and local governments in implementing them. The recommendations arebased on the findings that follow in this report.

- Abstract: President Obama began his letter regarding The Reauthorization of the Elementaryand Secondary Education Act with the very poignant statement: “Every child in Americadeserves a world-class education.”1 Although the Constitution does not directly address thenotion of education, the federal government and judiciary have made it clear through variousacts and case law respectively that the United States of America values education and that weshould care for all of our children. One must ask, however, whether only certain children aregetting a “world-class education,” while others are being deprived of their mental nutrition andtools for success.
