As a principal member at Mahoney & Mahoney, Timothy S. Mahoney offers more than just decades of legal experience to his clients. Mr. Mahoney began his impressive career as an undergraduate at St. Ambrose University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree. He then went on to complete his law degree at Northern Illinois University College of Law. During his studies, he maintained such an impressive academic performance that he became the third person to be inducted into the Moot Court Hall of Fame at the university. He has been licensed to practice in Illinois since 1992.
Over the years, Mr. Mahoney has earned his fair share of recognition from colleagues, law organizations and the media for his work. For example, he won the Readers' Choice Award for Best in the Region at the Free Journal Standard. He has also worked closely with his team to deliver some incredible wins for clients of the firm, such as $8 million for a personal injury case and $4 million for a wrongful death case.
Giving back to the community remains a priority for Mr. Mahoney. He has served on the boards of several nonprofit organizations, including the Malcolm Eaton Enterprises Day Facility for Adults, Jane Addams Mental Healthcare and VOICES.

- A pregnant mom, Sara Kamp, age 32, was driving to a prenatal check up on May 20, 2013, when she drove through an intersection and was struck by another car. Traffic on that road is supposed to stop at that intersection, but Kamp, being unfamiliar of the road, had no idea and continued through the intersection. A motorist reported over an hour before Kamp's car was struck, that a stop sign was missing. Later, police say the sign was knocked down from a storm. This case had settled in 2018, for $8,000,000.00, 2013
- A man at the age of 54, was driving westbound on Illinois Route 75, when eastbound truck driver lost control on a snow-covered roadway. The semi-tractor/trailer jackknifed and crossed the center line, striking the other driver's minivan head on. The man driving the minivan was in a coma for a month, and had multiple severe orthopedic injuries to the left side of his body (14 surgeries, 4 months hospitalization). This man also had his son in the vehicle with him at the time of the crash, in the passenger seat. He was also injured. This later settled for $8,000,000.00, making it the largest personal injury (non-med mal) settlement or verdict outside of Cook county, in the State of Illinois in 2013
- DeMeester's Flower Shop & Greenhouse, Inc. v. Florists' Mutual Insurance Co. Insurance-coverage action, wherein insurance company sought declaration that its insurer had duty to indemnify it for amounts it spent to replace 26 customers' lawns that were damaged due to the negligence of its employees, who mixed Round-up instead of a selective broadleaf herbicide in a lawn sprayer, 2017
