Bar / Professional Activity
- Chair of Civil Practice & Procedure Section Council for Illinois State Bar Association, 2025-6. Member, past officer positions since 2018. Prepared agendas and conducted meetings for Section Council members to review, to address issues relating to the Illinois Rules of Civil Procedure, as well as court decisions and administrative regulations regarding the same. Consider potential changes to the Rules, Supreme Court and Access to Justice issues involving the Courts, and advocacy proposals to be put before the ISBA Board affecting same. Regularly received and commented upon state legislative proposals. Selected Section Council Members with other Officers, and suggested sub-committee members. Organized Continuing Legal Education seminars, for credit, in conjunction with CLE coordinators. Issued quarterly newsletter in conjunction with Newsletter subcommittee. Served on the Allerton Conference subcommittee, which gathers Illinois judges, State Legislators, law school professors, seasoned attorneys, and new attorneys to participate in a "Think Tank" weekend to discuss how to improve a selected topic of legal procedure (2023: Use of Technology in the Courts; 2025: AI use in the courts). Served as moderator in multiple panels at the Allerton Conferences. .Served as member of the Supreme Court Rules subcommittee along with judges, professors and other attorneys, in order to provide recommendations for amendments to Supreme Court Rules, based upon problems identified by judges or litigants. , 2026
- Created and acted as Chair of the Joint Subcommittee on Supreme Court Rule 45 Compliance, relating to remote access to the courts. This Subcommittee worked generally with multiple ISBA committees which had an interest in ensuring that judges and courts were providing litigants, parties, witnesses and their attorneys with the fullest access to the courts through remote access, in both the letter and spirit of Supreme Court Rule 45. Worked with representatives of the Illinois Supreme Court's Access to Justice Committee representatives to ensure the fullest compliance with the law. c, 2025
- I was appointed as an American Bar Foundation Fellow in April 2025. This is a nomination and selection afforded to approximately 1% of attorneys in each jurisdiction. The ABF is dedicated to furthering the Rule of Law in the United States., 2025
- Served as a member of the Diversity Leadership Council, an appointed committee for the Illinois State Bar Association that helps to identify issues relating to diversity in the Bar, and ensure compliance with laws and goals relating to same. I am serving on this Committee for 2025-6 and previously served on this Committee from 2017-18., 2025
- Served as a Section Council Leader for the ISBA's Disability Leadership Committee. As a disabled attorney, who has both epilepsy (a "hidden disability") and a mobility-limitation disability which requires me to use a walker/wheelchair, I played an instrumental role in this Committee's decision to advocate for more inclusive policies for the disabled within the Bar's leadership. In particular, as my mobility decreased due to a surgery and complications after such surgery, it became more burdensome for me to participate in the meetings at the venues the Bar had selected, since they were extremely unfriendly to those using canes and walkers. My extremely painful struggles in reaching meeting rooms led to awareness of the differing needs of different disabled individuals, and that specialized accommodations can be easily identified with check boxes on registration forms., 2025
- Served as Chair of the Immigration and International Section Council of the Illinois State Bar Association from 2017-18, as well as Vice-Chair and Secretary in the years prior. Conducted outreach to Counsel Generals at Chicago's various Consulates. Our committee was instrumental in the efforts to educate state agencies and police about the impact of the Hague Convention on Consular Notification, and the need for compliance with same in the event foreign nationals were detained., 2018

- This was one of the earliest, and continues to be one of the most frequently cited, articles on the practical implications of using multiple-language contracts in business. This article has been cited consistently in law review articles, Bar journals, and book chapters, as a source of issues to consider for drafting multiple language contracts, particularly when parties do not have the resources to retain legal counsel who are native speakers of their opponent's language. The issues are as relevant today as they were when the article was originally drafted in 2008. It has been republished by the GP Solo magazine on its online page., Author, Drafting Multiple Language Contracts, ABA GPSolo Magazine, U.S., International, Global, Services, Sales, Small Business, 2008
- This seminar was presented jointly with Cambridge LLP, a Canadian law firm with which I have worked in the past. Some expect the legal traditions and litigation procedures between the US and Canada to be similar. While there are some similarities because of our shared Common Law tradition and origins in the UK, the differences can still be substantial, particularly for a first time cross-border litigant. It is important to work with proper counsel in both countries to identify where, and why, the case should be brought., Presenter/Author, Cross Border Litigation: Essential Considerations for U.S. Lawyers, ISBA LawEd seminar 10/26/2018 by ISBA Int'l & Immigration, Cook County Bar Association, the Cambridge LLP Law Firm, U.S., International, Canada, Global, Services, Sales, Small Business, 2018
- There are a myriad of laws, regulations and restrictions that affect businesses which are seeking to go global. Like everything else, advance planning can save businesses thousands of dollars and many more headaches if they are responsible and develop a plan long before entering into a contract to sell their services or goods. This presentation gives practical advice for how to learn which legal issues are too important to overlook. Knowledge is power. , Presenter/Author at ITAGC in Chicago, Going Global Responsibly, materials drafted for presentation by Michelle J Rozovics, U.S., International, European, Global, Services, Sales, Small Business, 2017
