At the law firm of Huck Bouma in Naperville, Illinois, Alissa Carter Verson represents both franchisers and franchisees in legal matters pertaining to intellectual property (IP) law, including trademark and franchise litigation. She also offers general business services, including commercial lease reviews, business purchases and sales, entity creation and operating agreements, contract drafting and early dispute resolution.

Ms. Verson completed her undergraduate studies, cum laude, in 2010 at Bradley University, majoring in music business. A member of the dean’s list, she also received numerous scholarships, including the Harold Anderson Scholarship for excellence in music business. Enrolling at The University of Sheffield in England, she graduated in 2011 with a Master of Arts degree in music management.
In 2015, Ms. Verson received her Juris Doctor degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology – Chicago-Kent College of Law. A deeply involved member of Women in Law during her time in law school, she served as the president of the Sports and Entertainment Law Society and as a student liaison for the Student Humanitarian Network. She has been licensed to practice in Illinois since 2016.
Outside her law practice, Ms. Verson stays associated with her colleagues through prominent legal organizations, including the American Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association. At the DuPage County Bar Association, she serves on the board of directors and is the vice chair for the organization’s Business Law and Practice section.
To keep up with the rapidly changing law, Ms. Verson attends the annual American Bar Association Forum on Franchising and utilizes other development opportunities in addition to learning through collaboration with the firm’s partners. She holds a “Good” rating on Avvo and has been endorsed in the legal community for her attention to detail and passion for helping her clients.
