Matthew Hess

Matthew Hess, the founder and principal attorney at Hess Law Firm, LLC, brings over two decades of legal knowledge to his practice. His focus encompasses probate, estate and trust litigation, estate planning and corporate law, catering to clients in the Chicagoland area.

Mr. Hess initiated his legal career by passionately representing injured patients and their families in state and federal courts, both at the trial and appellate levels. He later shifted his focus to defend medical providers, including doctors and hospitals, working closely with their insurance companies in similar cases. His legal experience also extends to defamation litigation and successfully handling numerous medical malpractice cases that resulted in favorable jury verdicts at trial.

After dedicating thirteen years to litigating these emotionally charged cases, Mr. Hess recognized the need for a change. Mr. Hess's educational journey includes obtaining his B.A. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2000, where he double majored in political science and finance. He furthered his legal education by earning his law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2003.

A resident of Plainfield, Illinois, Mr. Hess holds licenses to practice law in the State of Illinois and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. He is an active member of various legal associations, including the Illinois State Bar Association, The Chicago Bar Association, the Will County Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
