Mariam Hafezi

Mariam L. Hafezi is an accomplished trial attorney with a robust background in personal injury and wrongful death litigation. Since her admission to the Illinois Bar in 2010, she has dedicated her career to advocating for those harmed due to the negligence of others. She is the owner of the Law Office of Mariam L. Hafezi, based in Oak Park, Illinois, and focuses her practice in the Chicago metropolitan area and the surrounding suburbs in Illinois.

Ms. Hafezi’s legal journey began with a focus on complex medical negligence cases, where she represented injured patients, honing her litigation skills and deepening her understanding of the intricacies of medical law. Over the years, her practice has expanded to include a wide range of personal injury cases, such as auto accidents, premises liability, construction negligence, product liability and continued work in medical negligence. Her adept handling of these cases has resulted in the recovery of tens of millions of dollars in settlements and verdicts for her clients, underscoring her ability to secure favorable outcomes.

In 2019, Ms. Hafezi’s commitment and success led to her promotion to partner. She has been the first chair of numerous jury trials across various counties, including Cook, DuPage, Kane and Lake, as well as the federal courts in Chicago. Notably, she achieved a record-setting $3.3 million medical malpractice jury verdict in 2022 and a $15.2 million construction negligence jury verdict in 2018.

Ms. Hafezi’s dedication extends beyond the courtroom to appellate courts, where she has successfully briefed, argued and won appeals in the First and Second Districts of Illinois. Her advocacy skills were also showcased before the Illinois Supreme Court in Springfield.

Her alma mater, Northern Illinois University (NIU) College of Law, honored her with the Young Alum of the Year Award in 2020, recognizing her early career achievements and dedication. She also holds a bachelor's degree in business administration (2005) from the University of Iowa.
