The founder of the Hanauer Law Office LLC, Robert J. Hanauer devotes his practice to several areas of the law, and he represents clients throughout central Illinois from the firm’s office in Peoria. He is admitted to practice in Illinois and before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Southern, and Central Districts of Illinois and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit.
In his criminal defense practice, Mr. Hanauer has represented people who are facing state or federal misdemeanor or felony charges. The cases that he has handled in this regard have included driving under the influence, homicide, assault, domestic violence, white collar crimes and theft, among many other alleged offenses. Mr. Hanauer’s family law experience has encompassed divorce and its related legal issues as well as grandparent’s rights, adoptions, paternity disputes, the preparation of prenuptial agreements, the representation of domestic violence victims, and the modification and enforcement of existing parenting and support court orders.
Mr. Hanauer has also assisted clients who have been harmed by the negligence of other parties. He has been able to obtain significant compensation in cases stemming from motor vehicle crashes, construction site accidents, medical malpractice, premises liability and nursing home abuse. In addition, Mr. Hanauer is well-versed in probate litigation involving will contests and fiduciary duty breaches, and he has worked on a variety of real estate transactions and litigation, including purchases, evictions, and disclosure issues. His business litigation experience has included contract breaches, trade secret misappropriation, employment law matters, and shareholder and partner disputes.
