For the Kane County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office, Mr. Shaw was the child support attorney for two years after earning his Juris Doctor from Northern Illinois University in 1986. Before that, he graduated magna cum laude from Illinois College and is currently admitted to practice in Illinois and before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Mr. Shaw is a member of American Association for Justice, the Illinois Family Support Enforcement Association, the DuPage County Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. Former chair of the family law committee of the Kane County Bar Association, he also served as co-chair and on the council custody subcommittee for the Family Law Section of the Illinois State Bar Association.

A lecturer and legal author, Mr. Shaw served as guardian ad litem and mediator in many family law cases outside of court. He was part of presenting proposed custody legislation to the Illinois Supreme Court Custody Committee and serves as attorney presenter in the family court program “Kids in a Divorcing Society.” Mr. Shaw has written for the Illinois State Bar Association’s family law newsletter and the Illinois State Bar Association Family Law Handbook.
