For the Kane County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office, Mr. Shaw was the child support attorney  after earning his Juris Doctor from Northern Illinois University in 1986. Before that, he graduated magna cum laude from Illinois College and is currently admitted to practice in Illinois and before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Mr. Shaw is a member of the ISBA, sustaining member of both the KCBA and DCBA, a charter member of the Illinois Family Support Enforcement Association, a member of the American Bar Association and past member of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, and American Trial Lawyers Association. He is a Former chair of the family law committee of the Kane County Bar Association, and served as co-chair and on the council custody subcommittee for the Family Law Section of the Illinois State Bar Association.

A lecturer and legal author, Mr. Shaw served as guardian ad litem and mediator in many family law cases outside of court. He presented proposed custody legislation to the Illinois Supreme Court Custody Committee and served more than 20 years as an attorney presenter in the family court program “Kids in a Divorcing Society.” Mr. Shaw has written for the Illinois State Bar Association’s family law newsletter and the Illinois State Bar Association Family Law Handbook.
