Details
Kelly Moore is the lead attorney at Driver Defense Team, located in Villa Park, Illinois. Since her admission to the Illinois State Bar in 2013, she has handled various criminal and traffic law cases, ranging from minor traffic violations to Class X Felonies. Her focus at Driver Defense Team has been more on DUIs, suspended/revoked licenses, minor and serious traffic offenses for regular drivers as well as commercial drivers (CDL). However, she continues to represent clients charged with criminal offenses, misdemeanors and felonies. She also represents clients on Orders of Protection and Civil Asset Forfeitures.
Additionally, Ms. Moore’s courtroom experience includes delivering opening and closing arguments, and conducting direct and cross-examinations of witnesses in bench trials. She has also successfully navigated numerous pretrial hearings, including preliminary hearings, motions to quash arrests and suppress evidence, petitions to rescind statutory summary suspensions, bond hearings which are now detention hearings, and hearings about discovery violations.
Before her current position, Ms. Moore was a partner at McSweeney Moore Law Offices located in Palos Heights, Illinois. There she had the pleasure of working side by side with her mother and retired Judge, Colleen McSweeney Moore. Together they worked on cases such as First Degree Murder, Attempt Murder, Home Invasion, as well as sex charges, gun charges, and drug charges, to name a few. During her time at McSweeney Moore Law Offices, Kelly also dedicated four years to the executive board of directors of the Southwest Bar Association, serving as its president in 2020 and continues to be an active board member.
Graduating cum laude, Ms. Moore earned her J.D. from Chicago’s John Marshall Law School, completing her studies in just two and a half years, from 2010 to 2013. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology and Law Studies, as well as in Spanish Language and Literature, with a minor in Sociology from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
During her law school tenure, Ms. Moore worked as a 711 Law Clerk at the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, where she gained exposure to hundreds of criminal cases, participated in bench trials and motions, drafted legal memoranda, and managed discovery processes. Furthermore, she clerked at a prominent personal injury and workers’ compensation law firm based in Illinois, assisting with legal memoranda, discovery and court filings. She also acted as a judicial extern for the domestic relations judges at the Will County Courthouse, where she observed numerous cases involving divorce, child custody and support, and domestic abuse, as well as drafted court orders and legal memoranda.
