Richard J. Dvorak

Richard J. Dvorak is the founder of Dvorak Law Offices, LLC. Located in Willowbrook, Illinois, he focuses his practice on criminal defense matters at both the trial and appellate levels, providing representation to residents of Cook, DuPage, Will, Lake and Kane counties who have been charged by the state with misdemeanor or felony offenses. The types of matters that Mr. Dvorak has handled have included driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, weapons violations, assault and battery, sex crimes, drug possession and distribution, resisting arrest and homicide. He also has a civil rights practice, where he assists clients who have been the victim of police brutality or other misconduct.

Majoring in journalism and history, Mr. Dvorak attended the University of Wisconsin as an undergraduate, and he received a bachelor's degree in 1993. He then subsequently pursued his legal education at DePaul University College of Law, and he was awarded his Juris Doctor in 1999. Upon his graduation, Mr. Dvorak joined the Law Office of the Cook County Public Defender, where he gained significant bench and jury trial experience before entering private practice.

Admitted to practice before all Illinois state courts, Mr. Dvorak is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States. Fluent in Spanish, he is a member of the legal advisory board of First Defense Legal Aid, a Chicago-based nonprofit organization that provides free legal assistance to people who are in police custody. He is also a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National Police Accountability Project.
