Attorney Stephen M. Wagner is the founder of the Carmel law firm of Wagner Reese, LLP. Mr. Wagner founded his firm in 1997, where he practiced as a sole practitioner until attorney Jason R. Reese joined him as a partner in 2000. Mr. Wagner began his legal career in 1994 after earning his law degree cum laude from Indiana University Maurer School of Law and his approval to practice law in the state of Indiana. He began his professional career with the U.S. Department of Justice, where he spent a year in Philadelphia as part of the U.S. Attorney General's Honors Program. In 1995, Mr. Wagner decided to return to his native Indiana, joining a large Indianapolis defense firm, where he remained until founding his own plaintiff's personal injury law firm two years later.

Throughout Mr. Wagner's career, he has earned the respect of both his clients and his peers. He has an "Excellent" rating from Avvo, and the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association chose him as the recipient of the Trial Lawyer of the Year Award in 2006. In addition, the Indiana Bar Foundation named him a Distinguished Fellow in 2014 and a Lifetime Distinguished Fellow in 2022.
