Earning her honors degree in political science and philosophy from Boston University, Ms. Durso’s legal passion began through criminal defense research and internship work on opioid diversion at the Department of Justice. She graduated with honors from Indiana University Maurer School of Law, earning induction into the Order of the Barristers and the Faegre Drinker Pro Bono Award. Admitted to practice law in Indiana in 2020, she developed courtroom mastery managing misdemeanor caseloads with the Public Defender Agency.

As a full-time Marion County public defender after graduation, Ms. Durso managed major felony caseloads, mastering plea negotiations and high-stakes criminal trials from misdemeanors to Level 1 felonies. Her track record includes securing a not guilty jury verdict on two Level 3 rape counts and a full acquittal for Level 6 neglect. She has suppressed critical confessions, preserved a teacher’s career by obtaining charge dismissals and successfully won a nonjail sentence on complex multiple felony dealing and firearm charges.
