Details

A uniquely experienced trial lawyer and creative problem solver, Paul Stracci divides his practice between criminal defense and personal injury litigation. Paul has spent his career driven to level the playing field for individuals who are forced to combat opponents with outsized resources and power, whether it is the federal and/or state government or a giant insurance company. To further this goal, Paul founded Stracci Law Group, located in Crown Point, Lake County, Indiana, in 2016. He has guided its growth to a seven-attorney law firm, with over 100 years of combined legal experience, representing adult and juvenile clients throughout Northwest Indiana, and beyond.

As a criminal defense attorney since 1997, Paul has nearly seen it all. 10 months after being admitted to practice law, he successfully tried his first murder case, with the jury returning a not guilty verdict. Paul has maintained these lofty expectations, set at the onset of his career, for every one of the thousands of clients he has represented in state and federal court since. The accusations they’ve faced range from major felonies to simple misdemeanors, and include allegations of murder and other violent offenses, domestic terrorism, weapons offenses, sex and drug offenses, domestic violence, public corruption, racketeering, white-collar crime, fraud and theft offenses, and drunk driving, to name a few.

In his capacity as firm president, Paul represents people in serious personal injury and wrongful death litigation. He appreciates the potentially life-changing consequences of being injured and fights tirelessly to ensure the best outcome for his clients. Due to Paul’s courtroom skills and persuasiveness at the negotiating table, his clients have received substantial compensation for their losses. As a member of the National Trial Lawyers Top 100 and the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, Paul and his firm have been recognized for their considerable accomplishments.

Paul has represented clients in Illinois, Arizona, Nebraska, and numerous counties and federal divisions throughout Indiana. In addition to being admitted to practice in Indiana, he is also admitted to practice in front of the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit, and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern District of Indiana and the Northern District of Illinois.

Paul enjoys an excellent reputation among his colleagues, as evidenced by his consecutive Super Lawyers selections from 2019 through today, his AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell, and his 10.0 “Superb” peer review rating through Avvo. He was peer-elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the Northern District of Indiana Federal Community Defender’s Organization, concluding his service with consecutive terms as Board President. He was also peer-elected Co-Chairman of the Criminal Defense Section of the Lake County Bar Association (a position he has maintained since 2009) and the Lake County Judicial Nominating Commission, which is responsible for selecting Lake County Superior Court judicial applicants for appointment by the Governor (serving consecutive four-year terms).

Paul has also been recognized by both the federal and state court judiciary. He was named to the Honor Roll of Attorneys, for the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and previously appointed by the judiciary for the Northern District of Indiana to serve on the Local Rules Committee and the Magistrate Selection Committee (on two occasions). Additionally, Paul currently serves on the Lake County Public Defender Board, he is the Lake Superior Court Criminal Division judicial appointment to the Board.

Paul is proud to serve the people that make up the fabric of the Northwest Indiana community. He and his firm represent a diverse clientele: from schoolteachers and union workers; to politicians, law enforcement officers, health care providers, and members of the legal community. Paul regularly works with the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana, and Crown Point High School. He also serves alongside attorneys, members of the judicial and executive branches of government, and committed members of the community, on the Lake County Community Corrections Advisory Board. The local community has recognized the skill and commitment of Paul and his team in the Best of Region contest, conducted by the Times Media Company, wherein he placed 1st in Best Injury Lawyer, Best Criminal Lawyer, and Best Law Office categories by Times Media Company readers, 2023-2024
