A co-founder of Barber & Bauer, LLP, Steve Barber provides a variety of services for his clients in Evansville, Indiana, and the surrounding areas. He has extensive civil trial experience, representing companies and individuals in litigation involving contract breaches, shareholder and partnership disputes, and real estate matters. On the general business side, Mr. Barber prepares and reviews complex commercial and real estate documents such as purchase and sale contracts, stock purchase agreements and employment contracts. He also assists clients with the formation of their businesses through the selection of the appropriate form of legal entity. In addition, Mr. Barber has provided estate planning and family law advice and counsel to his clients.
Mr. Barber received a Bachelor of Arts cum laude from Indiana University in 1970, and he was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Society upon graduation. Remaining in Bloomington, he went on to pursue his legal education at Indiana University Maurer School of Law and became a member of the Order of the Coif upon his being awarded his Juris Doctor in 1974. Admitted to practice before all Indiana state courts, Mr. Barber is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the 7th and Federal Circuits, and the Supreme Court of the United States. He has received an AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell, and he has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America.
Mr. Barber is a member of the American Association for Justice, the Indiana State Bar Association and the Evansville Bar Association. He has authored several publications for the Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum. Mr. Barber also served as an adjunct professor at the University of Evansville for several years.
