Justin C. Kuhn

Justin C. Kuhn is a partner at CohenMalad, LLP, in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he focuses his practice on personal injury matters, with particular attention to medical malpractice and nursing home negligence claims. At the firm, he represents injured individuals and families seeking accountability and recovery, guiding cases from initial investigation through trial and, when necessary, appeal.

Mr. Kuhn’s foundation in appellate work began with a clerkship for the Honorable Cale J. Bradford of the Indiana Court of Appeals, an experience that sharpened his legal research and appellate drafting abilities. He has since authored numerous appellate briefs across a spectrum of issues, including medical malpractice and insurance coverage disputes, and brings that appellate perspective to trial preparation and post-trial strategy.

Before joining CohenMalad, LLP, Mr. Kuhn spent time defending health care providers and insurance carriers against malpractice, personal injury and property damage claims. That background provides him with practical insight into common defense theories and litigation tactics, which he uses to anticipate opposing positions, refine case theories, and pursue effective negotiation or litigation pathways on behalf of plaintiffs.

A graduate of Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, Mr. Kuhn earned his J.D. with honors, and he completed his undergraduate studies at Indiana University with a B.A. in political science, also graduating cum laude. During college, he was a four-year letter winner in wrestling, an experience that instilled discipline and a competitive drive he carries into his legal work. In recognition of his advocacy, he was a 2023 Trial Lawyer of the Year nominee with the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association.

Active in the legal community, Mr. Kuhn maintains membership in the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association and the Indiana State Bar Association, participating in forums that advance practice development and client representation. He is admitted to practice in the State of Indiana and before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana, and he applies that broad admission base when selecting venues and shaping litigation strategy.
