Michael G. Ruppert was admitted to the practice of law in 1978. Prior to focusing his law practice solely on Divorce and other Family Law cases, Mr. Ruppert also represented clients in complex and commercial litigation, disability cases and business transactions--all areas of the law which have provided him with the broad experience necessary to successfully advocate for his clients' divorce property awards or settlements, as well as agreements or decrees involving the financial and tax aspects of their child-related issues. Mr. Ruppert was designated a Certified Indiana Family Law Specialist by the Indiana Family Law Certification Board in 2002, the first year for certification of Family Law Specialists in Indiana, and has continued to maintain that designation through the Board's mandatory recertification process. The practice of each attorney employed at Ruppert & Schaefer, PC, the law firm he founded in 1996, is exclusively devoted to representing Divorce and other Family Law clients in dissolution of marriage, paternity and adoption proceedings and mediations in the Indianapolis Metropolitan Area, i.e., Avon, Carmel, Danville, Franklin, Fishers, Greenfield, Greenwood, Indy, Martinsville, Mooresville, Noblesville, Shelbyville, Zionsville, etc. Mr. Ruppert is active as an author and presenter for continuing legal education and bar review courses on numerous Family Law topics including distribution of pensions, retirement benefits and other property in divorces; Qualified Domestic Relations Orders ("QDROs"), Military Retired Pay Orders and Court Orders Acceptable for Processing ("COAPs") involving U.S. Government employee retirement benefits; litigation and agreements involving child custody, relocation of custodial parents, parenting time, grandparent visitation and child support; and, the tax aspects of property settlements, spousal maintenance and child support. He has authored numerous articles for the Indiana Law Review of the Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis and other publications. He is a member of the Family Law Sections of the ABA, the ISBA, the Indianapolis Bar Association (Past Section Chair) and the Hamilton County Bar Association. Mr. Ruppert has been named in the Super Lawyers list since 2005.
