Michael G. Ruppert is the president of Ruppert & Schaefer, P.C., located in Indianapolis, Indiana. He, and all of the attorneys in the firm, devote their law practices solely to advising and representing people throughout Indiana who are confronted with legal matters involving practically any aspect of family law. He practices before all Indiana trial and appellate courts; is board certified as a family law specialist by the Family Law Certification Board of the Indiana State Bar Association; and, possesses a wealth of legal knowledge gained prior to specializing in family law by performing a wide variety of legal services for individuals and businesses.  

Although a tenacious courtroom advocate, Mr. Ruppert is just as skillful at the resolution of family law disputes--whether the division of marital property, the determination of child custody and support or the need for spousal maintenance--through negotiation, mediation and arbitration. He has received training to serve as a family law Mediator and Arbitrator. In addition to preparing property settlement agreements, parenting time agreements and Qualified Domestic Relations Orders ("QDROs") in dissolution of marriage (divorce) cases, he has counselled many clients about protection of their assets before marriage and prepared prenuptial (i.e., premarital) agreements to suit their particular needs. The full range of services provided by Mr. Ruppert and his firm includes handling appeals of trial court decisions in family law cases. He has represented family law litigants in the Indiana Courts of Appeal and Supreme Court, resulting in favorable published and unpublished decisions.

In addition to delivering numerous oral and written presentations on family law topics for Continuing Legal Education courses, he is a graduate of the National Institute of Trial Lawyers, wrote the family law materials and taught for the IBA Bar Examination Review Course and has authored a number of articles concerning family law topics published in the Indiana Law Review.

Mr. Ruppert received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University at Bloomington; and, was awarded a Juris Doctorate degree from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, where he was the editor-in-chief of the law school's newspaper, The Gavel. Mr. Ruppert is an active participant in the Indianapolis Bar Association, Hamilton County Bar Association and other legal organizations.
