Michael W. McBride

Michael W. McBride is chair of the business services, real estate and business litigation practice group at CohenMalad, LLP, in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he handles a broad array of business, commercial and real estate matters. His practice encompasses complex business and real estate litigation, eminent domain and condemnation law, contract formation and disputes, business formation and dissolution proceedings, sophisticated real estate transactions, zoning and variance matters, construction disputes, landlord-tenant conflicts and collections.

As chair, Mr. McBride shapes strategy across matters that frequently require coordinated transactional and litigation responses, guiding teams through negotiation, motion practice, trial preparation and appellate briefing. He emphasizes practical solutions that protect clients’ commercial interests while remaining prepared to press claims or defenses in court when necessary.

Mr. McBride’s litigation work reaches state, federal and appellate forums, where he advocates for clients in disputes ranging from contract enforcement to property valuation and construction claims. His courtroom and appellate experience inform how he structures case plans and manages evidence and expert involvement to advance client positions efficiently. He is admitted to practice in the state of Indiana, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit.

Raised in Indianapolis, Mr. McBride completed primary education at Immaculate Heart of Mary and graduated from Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School before attending Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business with concentrations in marketing and management information systems. He returned to Indiana to receive his J.D. from Indiana University Maurer School of Law in 2008.

Active in the legal community, Mr. McBride holds longstanding memberships with the Indiana State Bar Association and the Indianapolis Bar Association, where he has served on the board and on multiple committees, including leadership roles such as Golf Committee Chair and Impact Fund Committee Chair. He is a board member of the Indianapolis Bar Foundation and has held officer and committee positions with regional and professional organizations, including the Brebeuf Jesuit Alumni Board and apartment industry associations.
