He then pursued his legal education at the Indiana University Maurer School of Law and was awarded his Juris Doctor with distinction in 1993. While he was there, Mr. Deets served as the managing editor of the Indiana Journal of Global Legal Studies and clerked for the Honorable Michael S. Kanne on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit. Admitted to practice before all Indiana state courts, he has been a partner at Hovde Dassow and Deets since 2000.

An active participant in several legal organizations, Nick is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, the American Board of Trial Advocates, the Litigation Counsel of America, the Indiana College of Trial Lawyers, and the Indiana Bar Foundation.
