After graduating from Hanover College with a B.S. in Political Science, Shawn attended The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois, where she earned a J.D. and an LL.M. in Intellectual Property.

Shawn concentrates her practice in the areas of estate and business succession planning, probate and trust administration, business law and real estate. She frequently advises individual and corporate personal representatives and trustees in the administration of estates and trusts.

Shawn has spoken at several continuing legal education seminars on the topics of estate planning and estate and trust administration. She is a graduate of the Indianapolis Bar Association Bar Leader Series Class XI and has been named as a Super Lawyers Rising Star.  Shawn is also a member of the Planned Giving Council at The Children's Museum of Indianapolis.  She is the Treasurer of the Estate Planning Council of Indianapolis.  Shawn is also the Secretary/Treasurer of the Probate, Trust & Real Property Section of the Indiana State Bar Association.  She is a member of the Indianapolis Bar Association, Indiana Bar Association and Illinois Bar Association.

Shawn received her certification as a Board Certified Indiana Trust & Estate Lawyer in 2017 from the Trust & Estate Specialty Board (TESB).

Shawn is married to fellow North Central High School alum Sean D. Scott. They live in Indianapolis with their three children.
