Yasmin Abdelhak Barker

Yasmin Abdelhak Barker is devoted to providing compassionate and honest representation from the initial consult to final results. Yasmin has been with Eskew Law in Indianapolis since her admission to the Indiana Bar and is dedicated to family law-related matters, including divorce, paternity, post-decree modifications, premarital agreements, stepparent adoptions, protective orders, and name changes.

As the daughter of immigrant parents, Ms. Barker is driven by a passion to bridge the gap in legal representation for non-English speaking individuals. Fluent in both Spanish and English, she channels her personal experiences into her practice, offering focused empathy and compassion in family law matters.

Ms. Barker graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and a minor in criminal justice. She then gained valuable experience working at a civil law firm, which solidified her decision to pursue a legal career. She attended Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, where she graduated with a J.D. and an advocacy skills graduate certificate. During her time in law school, Ms. Barker participated in the Honorable Robert H. Station Moot Court competition and was inducted into the Order of the Barristers. She also received the Mary H. Mitchell Outstanding Service Award for her significant pro bono work. She pursued her passion for child-focused advocacy through her involvement with Kids' Voice of Indiana and the Child Advocacy Clinic through the law school.  

Yasmin’s philosophy in practice is to prioritize sensible and creative solutions to family law issues. She relishes the opportunity to guide her clients to discover empowerment by taking charge of their own final agreements through negotiation, and is prepared to effectively advocate for her clients in the courtroom when agreements are truly not possible.

Ms. Barker has been also admitted to practice in the U.S District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana. She offers private guardian ad litem (GAL) services, and also serves as a volunteer GAL with Kids’ Voice of Indiana. She is an active member of the Indianapolis Bar Association, contributing to its Family Law and Young Lawyer’s Divisions. When not in the office or courtroom, Yasmin can probably be found at a live music event, teaching or taking a yoga class, or planning her next trip to the places on her bucket list, including each of America’s National Parks.
