Brandon Murphy is the managing attorney of Cannon, Bruns & Murphy in Muncie, Indiana. Mr. Murphy practices criminal defense and estate planning law, litigating matters at the state and appellate levels. He handles cases involving DUI, estates, murder, traffic violations, trusts and wills. He practices in Muncie, Anderson and throughout Delaware County, Indiana.
Mr. Murphy has been licensed to practice law since 2011. He earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Ball State University, graduating cum laude, and went on to earn his Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi School of Law, also earning a criminal law certificate. During law school, he worked for the District Attorney for the 15th Judicial Court’s office as a limited practice prosecutor.
Following law school, Mr. Murphy continued to develop his legal skills defending indigent clients. He went on to serve as a deputy public defender in Delaware County and later became first deputy public defender in Jay County, Indiana.
In addition to his law practice, Mr. Murphy has authored dozens of appellate briefs. He educates others on the criminal justice system by teaching a course on criminal justice at Ball State University.
Mr. Murphy is active in his legal community. He is a member of the Wesley W. Ratliff, Jr. & Alva A. Cox American Inn of Court and the editorial board of the Star Press. He previously served on the board of directors of Muncie-Delaware Clean & Beautiful and continues to serve as vice-president of the board of directors of Rebuilding Our Community Inc., a Muncie-based non-profit organization dedicated to addressing housing issues.
