Heather T. Gilbert

Heather T. She holds licenses to practice law in Illinois (2004), Indiana (2012), the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit.

At Indiana University, Ms. Gilbert actively engaged in academic organizations, including the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, the Hutton Honors College and the Delta Gamma Sorority. Throughout her law school tenure, she demonstrated leadership by serving on the Student Bar Association, participating in the Dean Dunmore Moot Court competition and assuming the role of an editor for Health Matrix: Journal of Law-Medicine.

Ms. Gilbert initiated her legal profession at the City of Chicago Department of Law, dedicating two years to service. As assistant corporation counsel within the Torts Division, she adeptly represented the city in civil litigation and assumed primary or secondary roles in jury trials. A pivotal stint in the Contracts and Aviation Division showcased her proficiency in scrutinizing contract specifications, conducting negotiations and crafting agreements, notably comprising a $21 million contract for the Department of Aviation and vendor deals for the Taste of Chicago event.

Since that time, Ms. Gilbert has spent the last 18 years in private practice, handling personal injury and wrongful death litigation and appeals.

A highly regarded member of her legal community, Ms. Gilbert actively participates in several professional organizations, including the Woman Lawyers Association of Indiana, the Indiana State Bar Association, the Lake County Bar Association, the Porter County Bar Association, the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association for Justice.
