Nicole Hughes

An experienced attorney with a focus on bankruptcy, commercial law and debtor-creditor relations, Nicole Hughes is the managing partner of Telpner Peterson Law Firm, LLP. She has over two decades of legal experience and serves clients across Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Ms. Hughes demonstrates a deep understanding of the complexities of bankruptcy law and its intersection with commercial transactions. She assists clients in navigating the intricacies of bankruptcy proceedings, whether they are debtors seeking relief or creditors asserting their rights. Her comprehensive knowledge of debtor-creditor relations allows her to provide strategic advice and representation to individuals and businesses facing financial challenges.

At Creighton University, Ms. Hughes graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in 2000. She then leveled up by earning her J.D. in 2003 from Creighton University School of Law. She is licensed to practice in Iowa (2003), Nebraska, the U.S. District Court for the Southern and Northern Districts of Iowa, the U.S. District Court for the District of Nebraska, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.

The director of the Federal Bar Association – Iowa Chapter, Ms. Hughes maintains active memberships in the Nebraska State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Iowa State Bar Association, the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Pottawattamie County Bar Association.

Ms. Hughes is also the former chair of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys and serves as the Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Panel Trustee for the Northern and Southern Districts of Iowa and the District of South Dakota. She also volunteers as a director of the Council Bluffs Schools Foundation and is a part of the Community Foundation for Western Iowa – Scholarship Committee.
