James R. Hinchliff

James R. Hinchliff is an attorney with Shindler, Anderson, Goplerud & Weese P.C., where he represents individuals, families and businesses in a wide range of legal matters. His practice includes divorce and family law, child custody and support, business and corporate law, contracts, estate planning, taxation and appeals. Known for his balanced approach, he combines rigorous legal analysis with an unwavering commitment to listening to and understanding his clients’ unique circumstances.

Mr. Hinchliff earned his Juris Doctor from Creighton University School of Law. While in law school, he served on the editorial staff of the law review, honed his advocacy skills in moot court and was recognized as a “Best Brief” finalist in Creighton’s Moot Court Competition. He received his undergraduate degree from Iowa State University, where he studied political science, anthropology and history.

Before joining Shindler, Anderson, Goplerud & Weese P.C., Mr. Hinchliff practiced in Perry, Iowa, where he gained valuable experience in criminal law, real estate, estate planning and tax preparation. This diverse background has equipped him with a strong foundation to handle complex issues that often overlap multiple practice areas. In addition to his client work, he contributes to the Iowa State Bar Association Family Law Manual and has presented at the association’s Bloethe Tax School, reflecting his dedication to advancing both his own knowledge and that of the broader legal community.

Mr. Hinchliff is an active member of the Iowa State Bar Association, where he belongs to several sections, including Family Law, Litigation, Trust & Estate Planning, Business Law and Taxation. He is also a member of the Dallas Bar Association. He is licensed to practice in Iowa and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Iowa.
