His then 16-year-old sister and two of her friends were killed when a train struck their car, and Mr. Bretz's has devoted his practice to helping others dealing with such life-altering and preventable tragedies. From his efforts, he has recovered millions of dollars in total compensation for his plaintiff clients, and he has gained a reputation for his compassion and integrity along with his aggressive advocacy and unwavering support.

He also practices before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit.

Mr. Bretz is a member of the Kansas Bar Association and the Kansas Association for Justice, where he serves on the board of governors. He also supports his local community through his involvement with the American Red Cross, the United Way, Big Brothers, and other civic and charitable organizations.
