Joseph A. DeWoskin

Joseph A. DeWoskin, PC, is a Kansas City, Kansas, law firm owned by attorney Joseph A. DeWoskin. Mr. DeWoskin concentrates his practice on family law, handling military divorces in particular. He has more than 28 years of legal experience and serves clients throughout the Kansas City metropolitan region.

In addition to cases involving military military personnel and family members, Mr. DeWoskin handles cases involving child custody, child support, fathers’ rights and visitation. He previously served on active duty with the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s (JAG) Corps and continued to serve as a U.S. Army Reserve lieutenant colonel, having retired on December 17, 2018.

His military experience provides Mr. DeWoskin with the required knowledge and ability to represent military members, military spouses and their families. He has advised others, been retained to draft orders dividing military retirement, and testified as an expert in military legal matters. He has experience in additional areas, including landlord/tenant law, insurance litigation, personal injury, Social Security Disability, traffic violations and workers’ compensation.

Mr. DeWoskin enjoys giving back to his community through volunteering. He is involved in legal organizations such as the American Bar Association and the Wyandotte County Bar Association. He is passionate about educating others and teaches at continuing legal education events on military legal issues involving child custody, child support and divorce thoughtout the country.

Mr. DeWoskin received a bachelor’s degree in English and political science from Washington & Jefferson College and earned his law degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law. He is eligible to practice in Kansas and Missouri and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, the U.S. Army Court of Criminal Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
