Melissa Schroeder

Melissa Kelly Schroeder is the principal attorney at The Kelly Law Firm. Located in Lenexa, Kansas, and providing representation to clients throughout Johnson County, she focuses her practice on divorce and other family law matters. In that regard, Ms. Schroeder assists people who are facing the end of their marriage and dealing with such issues as child custody and visitation, spousal and child support, and complex asset and debt division. A tenacious and skilled litigator, she often helps her clients to seek accords on some of these issues through negotiations and other alternative dispute resolution procedures.

Ms. Schroeder also has extensive experience in helping her clients obtain modifications or enforcement of existing orders. In addition to her matrimonial practice, other family law matters that she has handled have included paternity disputes and fathers' rights. Ms. Schroeder also assists victims of domestic violence who are petitioning for appropriate protective orders. 

As an undergraduate, Ms. Schroeder attended Kansas State University and obtained a Bachelor of Science in 1993. Remaining in the state, she pursued her legal education at Washburn University School of Law in Topeka, and she was awarded her Juris Doctor in 1995. While in law school, Ms. Schroeder served on the staff of the Washburn Law Journal. She has been with her current firm since 2000. Admitted to practice before all Kansas and Missouri state courts, Ms. Schroeder  is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit.
