Bernard J. Hickert

B. J. Hickert is an experienced estate planning, trust, tax and business lawyer with Stevens & Brand, LLP.  He graduated cum laude from Benedictine College in 1977; received his J.D. from the University of Kansas School of Law in 1980; and obtained an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Missouri at Kansas City School of Law in 1995.  B. J. taught the estate and gift tax course as an Adjunct Professor for 12 years at Washburn University School of Law and for 5 years at Kansas University School of Law.  In 2008, B. J. was admitted as a Fellow in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel.  B. J. uses his tax expertise to create estate plans designed to minimize federal estate and income taxes and advises trustees regarding the administration of the plans.
