Kurt A. Harper

The managing partner of Depew Gillen Rathbun & McInteer, LC, located in Wichita, Kansas, Kurt A. Harper, offers legal counsel across a broad range of complex litigation matters. His practice focuses on business litigation, general litigation and alternative dispute resolution, as well as employment litigation, construction disputes, real estate matters, warranty claims and securities fraud.

With decades of legal experience, Mr. Harper represents clients in both state and federal courts, offering strategic guidance tailored to the specific needs of each case. In addition to his litigation work, he serves as a mediator and arbitrator, including participation on panels for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), where he helps parties resolve disputes efficiently outside the courtroom.

Mr. Harper graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors from The University of Kansas in 1976. He went on to receive his Juris Doctor from The University of Kansas School of Law in 1979, where he was inducted into the Order of the Coif, a distinction recognizing high academic achievement. Following graduation, he returned to Wichita and has practiced law there continuously since that time. He also maintains proficiency in the Russian language.

Admitted to practice in Kansas in 1979, Mr. Harper is also admitted to the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit. His longstanding legal career reflects a deep familiarity with both trial and appellate practice. Recognized for his contributions to the legal career, he earned an AV Preeminent* peer-review rating through Martindale-Hubbell, the organization’s highest rating.

Mr. Harper is actively involved in the legal community. He is a member of the Wesley E. Brown American Inn of Court, the Wichita Bar Association, the Kansas Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the American Immigration Lawyers Association. His leadership roles have included serving as co-chair of the Wichita Bar Association’s CLE Committee from 1989 to 1991 and as secretary/treasurer from 1986 to 1987.
