Chad McCoy is a founding partner and of counsel at McCoy & Hiestand, PLC, in Bardstown, Kentucky. He practices personal injury law, handling cases such as:
- Motor vehicle accidents
- Truck wrecks
- Medical malpractice
- Products liability
- Premises liability
- Wrongful death
Mr. McCoy's passion lies in advocating for his clients, ensuring they receive the representation and compensation they deserve. He is particularly focused on standing up to insurance companies that leverage their economic power to pressure victims into accepting unfair settlements. For Mr. McCoy, each case's importance to his clients translates into a personal commitment to achieving justice.
Mr. McCoy began his legal career in 1995 after graduating magna cum laude from the University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif. He initially worked for large law firms, but he soon realized his calling was to represent individuals rather than big corporations. This led him to co-found McCoy & Hiestand, PLC, with Sheila Hiestand, forming what they call the "Dream Team."
In 2016, Mr. McCoy was elected to the Kentucky State Legislature, where he served three terms representing the 50th District. During his tenure, he was elected by his peers to serve as the House Majority Whip for two terms. After deciding not to seek reelection in 2022, he completed his mediation certification from Cornell University.
Mr. McCoy's professional memberships include the Kentucky Justice Association, the Kentucky Bar Association, the Nelson County Bar Association, the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the American Association for Justice. He is also admitted to practice in the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit.
Mr. McCoy has received numerous awards, including the AV Preeminent* peer-review rating by Martindale-Hubbell, recognition as one of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers in Kentucky by The National Trial Lawyers Association, induction into the Bourbon Hall of Fame and holding a "Superb" rating on Avvo.
