Attorney Jay Prather is a founding partner of Garmer & Prather, PLLC, in Lexington, Kentucky. Honored for his outstanding professionalism and service, Mr. Prather helps develop the next generation of lawyers as an adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Kentucky David J. Rosenberg College of Law, where he teaches medical liability to upper-level law students. A 2003 cum laude graduate of Vanderbilt University, Mr. Prather obtained his Juris Doctor in 2006 from the University of Kentucky College of Law, where he has a member of the Kentucky Law Journal and the Moot Court Board. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th, 6th and 11th Circuit. Additionally, he has received admission to practice pro hac vice in Alabama, Tennessee and Ohio.

An active leader in the legal community, Mr. Prather has served in various positions with the Kentucky Justice Association, Kentucky Bar Association, American Inns of Court, and American Constitution Society. He is a member of the Fayette County Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, and the American and Federal Bar Associations. Outside the office, Jay has been a trustee of the Lexington History Museum, a leader of Crestwood Christian Church, and served numerous other civic assignments over the years.
