Justin S. Peterson is an attorney at Peterson Law Office, based in Lexington, Kentucky. He assists clients across the state with personal injury cases including those involving vehicle accidents, nursing home abuse, medical malpractice and wrongful death.
Mr. Peterson has worked as an insurance defense attorney, during which time he gained a wealth of insight into the insurance industry and the tactics that insurance providers use to reduce or deny claims. Using this insight, he devises effective strategies for his plaintiff clients and has secured millions of dollars in settlements and verdicts for those adversely affected by accidents, unsafe property conditions, defective products and other preventable tragedies.
Along with handling a wide variety of personal injury claims, Mr. Peterson has also tried numerous criminal cases as well as those involving business and commercial litigation, employment law grievances, civil rights claims, insurance bad faith and other complex disputes.
Recognized for his skills, Mr. Peterson received the Litigator of the Year award in 2020 from the American Institute of Trial Lawyers and has earned consistent endorsements from his peers. Additionally, he holds an 8.2 rating on Avvo and has received numerous testimonials and referrals from his satisfied clients. He also finds great reward in being able to serve his community during its times of need.
A 2005 magna cum laude graduate of the University of Kentucky, Mr. Peterson returned to his alma mater and obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Kentucky – J. David Rosenberg College of Law in 2008. While there, he was a member of the Trial Advocacy Board and the Journal of Natural Resources & Environmental Law.
During law school, Mr. Peterson was an active participant in the Kentucky Intrastate Mock Trial Tournament and the American College of Trial Lawyers’ National Trial Competition, where he was the regional champion and recipient of the Powell Medallion. He also received the school's inaugural Outstanding Trial Advocate Award; the Charles E. Buzz English, Jr., Award for Excellence in Trial Advocacy.
