Laura Disney

Laura Disney is an associate attorney at Porter, Banks, Baldwin & Shaw, PLLC, based in the firm's Lexington office. In this capacity, she serves clients across the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Focusing on litigation, she focuses her practice toward insurance defense. Her proficiency encompasses:

• Insurance bad faith litigation
• General insurance defense encompassing motor vehicle accidents, premises liability and property damage
• Insurance coverage analysis and litigation
• Personal injury and property damage defense
• Product liability defense
• Commercial litigation

A native of Barbourville and a 2013 Governor's Scholar, Ms. Disney graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in political science from Eastern Kentucky University in 2018. While at EKU, she demonstrated leadership and excellence as the captain of the mock trial team and was elected Student Body President and Student Regent on the Board of Regents in her senior year.

In 2021, Ms. Disney attained her J.D. from the University of Kentucky Rosenberg College of Law. During her first year, she garnered praise for delivering the best appellate oral argument of her research and writing group and distinguished herself as the top-scoring advocate in the Trial Advocacy Board's 1L competition. In her second year, she further solidified her standing as a standout advocate by being selected as a member of Moot Court Board and Trial Advocacy Board (TAB), earning the title of top advocate in the Trial Advocacy Board's 2L competition. In her second and third years, Ms. Disney represented UK Law as an advocate on the National Trial Team. In her final year, she assumed leadership roles including President of the Trial Advocacy Board and Secretary for the Moot Court Board. Her excellence in trial advocacy was duly recognized by being selected to receive the Seek Justice Award in her third year.

Following her graduation and successful completion of the Kentucky bar exam, Ms. Disney gained admission to practice law in Kentucky, as well as in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit. In addition to her legal practice, she actively engages in professional organizations such as the Defense Research Institute and the Kentucky Defense Counsel and has been coaching trial teams at UK Law each year since 2023.
