Laura Disney

Laura Disney is an associate attorney at Porter, Banks, Baldwin & Shaw, PLLC, based in the firm's Lexington office. In this capacity, she serves clients across the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Focusing on litigation, she focuses her practice toward insurance defense. Her proficiency encompasses:

A native of Barbourville, Ms. Disney graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. (2018) in political science from Eastern Kentucky University. While there, she demonstrated leadership and excellence as the captain of the university's mock trial team. Moreover, she showed a strong dedication to academic and extracurricular achievements, which was evident through her election as student body president and appointment as student regent on the Board of Regents in her senior year.

In 2021, Ms. Disney attained her J.D. from the University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law. During her inaugural year, she garnered praise for delivering the most compelling appellate oral argument of her research and writing class and distinguishing herself as the top-scoring advocate in the Trial Advocacy Board's 1L competition. Building on this success in her second year, she further solidified her standing as a standout advocate, being selected as a member of Moot Court Board and Trial Advocacy Board and earning the title of premier advocate in the Trial Advocacy Board's 2L competition. 

Throughout her second and third years, Ms. Disney represented her law school as an advocate on the National Trial Team. In her final year, she assumed leadership roles, notably serving as the president of the Trial Advocacy Board and the secretary of the Moot Court Board. Her exceptional contributions to trial advocacy were duly recognized by being selected to receive the Seek Justice Award.

Following her graduation and successful completion of the bar exam, Ms. Disney gained admission to practice law in Kentucky, as well as in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit. In addition to her legal practice, she actively engages in professional organizations such as the Defense Research Institute and the Kentucky Defense Counsel. Within the latter, she contributes as a member of the Philanthropy Committee, showcasing her commitment to legal excellence and community engagement.
