He went on to attend the University of Louisville School of Law, and during his time there, he was a part of the University of Louisville Law Review, serving as articles editor, and was awarded the Kentucky Defense Counsel Award, the Professional Responsibility Award and the Samuel L. Greenebaum Writing Award. He received his Juris Doctor magna cum laude in 2010 and, in the same year, obtained his license to practice law in Kentucky.
