P. Stewart Abney

The founder and managing partner of Abney Law in Louisville, Kentucky, P. Stewart Abney is an employment and civil rights lawyer, serving clients across the Louisville metro and the state of Kentucky. He assists clients with various issues, including:

His civil rights expertise includes defending victims whose constitutional rights have been violated, especially the First, Second, Fourth, Eighth and Fourteenth Amendments. 

A 2004 graduate of Centre College with a major in history, Mr. Abney pursued his legal studies at the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law, where he was a part of the Health Law Moot Court. Earning his law degree cum laude in 2007, he was licensed to practice in Kentucky the same year. Later, he gained admission to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit, the U.S. District Court for the Western and Eastern Districts of Kentucky, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana and the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado.

The recipient of Martindale-Hubbell’s Client Champion Gold award in 2022, Mr. Abney is a compassionate attorney who uses his knowledge of the law to get justice for his clients whose rights have been infringed upon. He holds a “Superb” rating on Avvo and is well-respected in the legal community for his staunch advocacy and ability to get favorable results for his clients. 

With his legal career spanning more than 14 years, Mr. Abney plays an active role in several prominent organizations. He is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association, the Louisville Bar Association, the Kentucky Justice Association and the American Association for Justice.­
