Sandra B. Hammond

Sandra B. Hammond, a certified mediator by the Jefferson County Family Court, is an accomplished attorney and partner at Tilford Dobbins & Schmidt, PLLC, located in Louisville, Kentucky. She dedicates her practice primarily to family law, handling cases such as:

• Custody disputes
• Family court mediation
• Acting as a parent coordinator in high-conflict divorce situations

Additionally, Ms. Hammond’s legal proficiency extends to estate planning and probate matters. As a court-appointed parent coordinator, she tackles parenting issues in high-conflict divorces, including time sharing, children’s education, extracurricular activities and the development of co-parenting strategies.

A Louisville native, Ms. Hammond graduated from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, with degrees in sociology and Spanish, and spent a year studying abroad in Madrid, Spain. She later earned a Master of Arts in foreign language education from the University of Louisville in 1979 before obtaining her J.D. from the University of Louisville School of Law, where she was recognized on the dean’s list.

Ms. Hammond has served as guardian ad litem in Jefferson County Family Court for two decades, advocating for children who have been abused and neglected. Licensed to practice in Kentucky since 1986, she is admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit. She holds an AV Preeminent* peer-review rating through Martindale-Hubbell and is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association, the Louisville Bar Association and the American Bar Association.

Beyond her legal career, Ms. Hammond is a prominent civic leader. She has been a trustee on the board of directors for Key One Healthcare, Jewish Hospital and St. Mary’s Healthcare. Additionally, she has chaired the board of trustees for the Jewish Heritage Fund for Excellence, a Kentucky foundation with $250 million in assets.
