Following his undergraduate studies, he attended the Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center, obtained a Juris Doctor degree in 1985, and was licensed to practice law in Louisiana the same year. Since then, he has litigated cases in several courts across the state, including the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Western and Middle Districts of Louisiana and the United States Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit.
